Osteoporosis is common and affects an estimated over 300,000 people in Ireland. Although more common in females who have gone through the menopause, it can also affect men and occasionally children. It is defined as a decline in bone mass associated with a microarchitectural deterioration in bone resulting in an increased risk of fragility fracture.

The goal of this module is to discuss three of the common chronic pain conditions encountered in both primary care and secondary care. For each condition, the diagnosis, classification and treatment modalities (both medical and interventional) will be discussed. 

This module reviews the diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment of coccygodynia. The goal of this module is to review the presentation, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis and treatment of coccygodynia. It will also include a concise review of the functional anatomy of the coccyx.

The aim of this CPD module is to discuss the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), diagnosis and treatment. The complications of RA and how a multidisciplinary approach to care is needed for managing multisystem autoimmune diseases are also addressed.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory autoimmune condition with periods of exacerbation and remission, characterised by synovitis and joint destruction mediated by cytokines, chemokines, and metalloproteases. This module uses a typical patient case study to outline the latest management strategies for this disease.
